Energy Performance Certificates / Display Energy Certificates (EPCs & DECs)

EPCs

Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) began to be rolled out for new buildings from 6 April 2008. Initially, only new buildings with a floor area exceeding 10,000 square metres were affected. However, certificates will be mandatory for all buildings by 1 October 2008. This will also include existing buildings when placed on the market for sale or rent. Akome Energy Build can provide certified EPCs for both domestic and commercial buildings.

DECs

Requirements for Display Energy Certificates will come into effect from 1 October 2008. Display Energy Certificates are only required for buildings that are occupied by a public authority or an institution providing a public service to a large number of persons. All buildings with a total internal floor area greater than 1000 square metres are affected. Display Energy Certificates are valid for one year and the accompanying Advisory Report is valid for 7 years.
